Maintenance

Maintenance

So the site works after three years as it did on launch day.

We look after websites and online stores after launch: updates, backups, security, performance and changes when they are needed. Above is Fora, a system with thousands of users that we maintain continuously.

What happens without maintenance

A site nobody looks after breaks quietly.

The most common scenario is not a break-in. Most often the enquiry form quietly stops working, and nobody notices for weeks, until someone asks why there are no enquiries any more. The second most common is slowdown: within a year the added plugins and uncompressed photos make the page twice as slow as on launch day.

A website is a system running in a changing environment: browsers change, platforms update, security holes appear. Maintenance is updates and a check that nothing stopped working afterwards, backups with a tested recovery plan, security monitoring, performance upkeep and error monitoring that reports before a customer notices.

How much attention is needed depends on what happens on the site. A small site needs a regular check. A store needs more, because a fault at checkout costs immediately. Systems with thousands of users need continuous monitoring: Fora and outr are maintained so that a growing user count does not change their speed.

We start with an audit: what works, what does not, which updates were missed, how backups are made. We put the base in order and only then move to regular upkeep. Small changes and improvements are part of it. Larger work is discussed separately, but it is done by the same team that already knows your site.

New pages, content changes and small improvements as needed.

Common questions

How much attention does my site need?

A small site needs regular checks and updates. A store needs more, because a fault at checkout costs immediately. Systems with users need monitoring. We set the scope after the audit.

Can I start maintenance without a build?

Yes. We start with an audit, put the base in order and then move to regular upkeep. Send us the address and we will tell you what we find.

Does maintenance include changes?

Yes, small changes and improvements are part of it. Larger work, a new section or feature, is discussed separately, but it is done by the same team that already knows your site.
